Lawyers and non-lawyers alike are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence to handle legal work more efficiently. Some non-lawyers are using AI tools to draft contracts, research legal rights, and consider consequential legal decisions, sometimes without consulting a lawyer at all. But AI tools carry serious risks that both lawyers and non-lawyers must understand. The risks include exposure of confidential information and reliance on incomplete or inaccurate legal analysis.
