Panitch Schwarze partner Travis W. Bliss, Ph.D. will participate in the American Seed Trade Association’s CSS & Seed Expo, the largest seed industry conference in the country. He will attend meetings of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Emerging Issues Working Group on December 5 and the IPR Committee on December 6.

The American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) is one of the oldest trade organizations in the United States. Its membership consists of over 650 companies involved in seed production and distribution, plant breeding, and related industries in North America. As an authority on plant germplasm, ASTA advocates science and policy issues of industry-wide importance.

A partner at Panitch Schwarze, Bliss largely focuses his practice on securing, licensing, monetizing, challenging, and enforcing intellectual property rights, including U.S. plant patents, utility patents, plant variety protection (PVP) certificates, and trademarks, for novel plant varieties. He works with each of his clients in the horticulture industry to help them formulate an effective IP strategy for their particular situation, including helping the client identify the IP rights they should secure and assisting them in creating an effective licensing regime, with the overall goal always being to ensure that clients get maximum value from their IP rights without expending resources unnecessarily.
