Partner Erin Dunston will serve as a speaker at the IPI Academy’s Patent Strategies for Generic Medicines and Generic Medicine Companies Training Course, hosted by Management Forum.
The one-day program brings together experienced practitioners to provide practical insight into navigating the complex patent landscape surrounding generic and biosimilar medicines. The course will focus on strategies for managing patent risk, conducting Freedom to Operate (FTO) analyses, and understanding the evolving legal framework affecting pharmaceutical patents in Europe and the United Kingdom.
During the program, attendees will explore key topics including identifying and managing blocking patents, strategic use of EPO oppositions and UPC litigation, and recent case law developments impacting patent validity and enforcement. The course will also address the role of Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs), the SPC Manufacturing Waiver, and the Bolar Research Exemption.
Erin will join an international faculty of intellectual property professionals to discuss practical approaches to navigating these issues and the broader patent strategy considerations for companies bringing generic medicines to market.
The course will take place online on March 10, 2026, 09:30-16:45 (UK Time)
