Details:  Panitch Schwarze partner Erin M. Dunston will participate in a panel discussion on the impact of USPTO changes to AIA proceedings at the Intellectual Property Owners Association’s 2022 annual meeting. The panel will be moderated by Gillian Thackray from Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., and panelists include Chris Comiskey from Collins Aerospace, Jessica Marks from Unified Patents, LLC, and Arpita Bhattacharyya from Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP.

The session will cover:

  • Changes to AIA proceedings and how they have impacted outcomes
  • How changes to procedures, guidance, and rules have impacted different sectors and industries
  • USPTO leadership changes
  • The effect of discretionary denials on PTAB practice and related litigation

An experienced IP attorney, Dunston focuses her practice on patent procurement, opinions, enforcement, and portfolio strategy. Her matters are primarily in the life science space (small molecules, large molecules, and medical devices), and she has handled projects on subjects ranging from precipitated silica to vaccines to radiotherapy devices.
