Travis W. Bliss, Ph.D., will be speaking at the 2026 CIOPORA Academy Workshop. His session, titled Impact of Competition/Antitrust Laws on Plant License Agreements: US and EU Perspectives, will examine how legal frameworks influence licensing practices within the horticultural industry.

Dr. Bliss will present alongside Fleur Tuinzing-Westerhuis, Counsel at Houthoff (The Netherlands). The program will explore how competition laws in the European Union and antitrust laws in the United States shape permissible conduct in agreements between companies operating at different levels of the supply chain.

The session will address practical considerations in collaboration agreements between breeding companies, licensing arrangements with growers, and multi-layer supply chain structures. Attendees will gain insight into how these legal regimes impact commercialization strategies and contractual relationships in the plant and agriculture sectors.

The session will take place on April 20, 2026, from 13:15 to 14:30 CET, as part of the CIOPORA Academy Workshop in Alicante, Spain.
