PHILADELPHIA (April 2018) – Panitch Schwarze partner Dr. Jeffrey W. Gluck has been re-appointed to AIPPI’s Standing Committee on Standards and Patents. Gluck recently completed a three-year term on the committee and will now continue his service into 2021.
The International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), or Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle, is the world’s leading international organization dedicated to the development and improvement of laws for the protection of intellectual property. As a representative of AIPPI, Gluck will work toward achieving harmonization of patent law throughout the world.
Having gained a wealth of experience as an engineer, researcher, university professor and patent examiner, Gluck also is active in various bar association committees in the U.S., focusing on standards and open-source software. As a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s Standing Committee on Standards and Open Source, he brings a valuable perspective to his service to AIPPI.
As a patent attorney, Gluck specializes in electrical and computer-related technologies. While focusing mainly on multi-user, digital, wireless and satellite communications, he also has worked in the areas of signal processing, control systems, semiconductor devices and computer architecture, for example. He represents clients in a variety of matters, including patent counseling and opinions, licensing and transactions, patent prosecution, and re-examinations and other post-grant proceedings. He assists on trial litigation and has served as a lead attorney in appellate litigation. He also provides client counseling regarding open source software-related issues and standards-related issues.
The nonprofit AIPPI is politically neutral and based in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded in 1897, AIPPI has more than 9,000 members from more than 125 countries. Its members include lawyers, patent attorneys, patent agents and trademark agents, as well as judges, scientists and engineers.
