Mr. Eisan Go, Ms. Michiko Matsutani, Mr. Norihito Yamao, and Mr. Tadasu Amasaki will be giving a presentation on product-by-process claims and patent term extension in Japan. Lunch will be served. CLE will be applied for but is not guaranteed.

Mr. Eisan GO is a chemist and a member of our Life Science-focused team. His Master degree of Engineering work included organic compounds produced by the solid phase synthesis which are one of chemical basis of potential pharmaceuticals. He joined Aoyama & Partners in 2004, qualifying as both a Japanese Patent Attorney in 2009 and a Japanese Patent Infringement Litigator in 2011. He handles drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the pharmaceutical fields including chemical compounds, pharmaceutical formulations. He also involves in patent litigations both in domestic and overseas. He works with a wide range of clients including pharmaceutical companies, chemical material companies, universities, domestic and overseas multi-national companies.

Ms. Michiko MATSUTANI is highly experienced in preparation and prosecution of patent application as well as in invalidation trials and oppositions. Based on her extensive and deep knowledge on patent laws and practices of Japan as well as of various foreign countries, she advises her clients in all matters relating to patent law.

Mr. Norihito YAMAO studied Materials Science and Engineering at Osaka University in Japan and obtained B. Eng. and M. Eng. He also obtained M. Sc. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in USA.  He worked in the industry on development of special steels for 17 years. He has extensive experience in the technical fields of materials especially inorganic materials.  Mr. Yamao joined Aoyama & Partners in 2006. He handles patent matters in areas including inorganic materials such as metals, semi-conductors, as well as electric devices.

Mr. Tadasu AMASAKI majored in polymer science and studied crystalline structures of polymers at university. Then, he was engaged in development on color filters of liquid crystal panel in a company. After that, he works in the field of intellectual property including filing and prosecuting patent applications in Japan and foreign countries.
