PHILADELPHIA (December 16, 2011) – Panitch Schwarze attorneys Alan Nadel, Clark Jablon, John Simmons, and Dennis Butler hosted a live seminar and webcast entitled “Leahy-Smith America Invents Act” on November 30, 2011. The presentation discussed major changes found in the sweeping new law including the introduction of the first-tofile system, the post grant review proceedings, and the impact this will have on patent litigation. The event was moderated by Martin Belisario, Managing Partner of Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP.

Martin Belisario’s practices intellectual property and technology law. His practice focuses primarily on the mechanical arts, including transmissions, HVAC systems, small appliances, medical, software and electro/mechanical devices.

Alan Nadel is a founding partner of Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP. His practice focuses on all aspects of patent matters involving bioscience, chemical and mechanical inventions, including patent preparation, prosecution, licensing and litigation. Furthermore, his practice includes negotiating, advising with respect to and preparing licenses and technology transfer agreements and other agreements associated with technology practice, such as trade secret and consulting agreements.

Clark Jablon is a founding partner of Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP (Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP) and is a registered patent attorney. Mr. Jablon focuses his practice on all phases of patent prosecution, in the field of electronics, computer hardware and software, Internet technologies and computer-implemented business methods, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, preparing patentability and infringement opinions, conducting intellectual property due diligence investigations and providing litigation support for patent cases. Mr. Jablon has more than 26 years of experience in patent law, including eight years in the public sector as a Patent Examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

John Simmons’ practice focuses on IP litigation including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secrets, computer fraud and abuse, cybersquatting and licensing/contract disputes. John has litigated cases involving a wide variety of technologies, including instrumentation, gaming devices, video games, software, Internet security software/systems, ionization systems, industrial designs and medical devices. He has extensive patent drafting, due diligence, opinion writing and licensing experience. Dennis Butler focuses his practice on intellectual property and technology law including medical implants, small appliances, automotive mechanisms, cleantech technologies, structural composite assemblies, bicycle technology, indoor games and electro/mechanical devices. Dennis also has extensive experience in preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications, as well as, inter partes and ex parte reexaminations and reissue patent applications before the U.S. Patent Office.
