MAUREEN CUMMINS KASSNER, Senior Counsel Maureen Cummins Kassner's practice focuses on foreign and domestic trademark prosecution, counseling and intellectual property licensing. Prior to joining Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel, Ms. Kassner was senior counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. Before joining Akin Gump, Ms. Kassner was senior counsel at Mattel, Inc., where she was responsible for advising all East Coast operations with respect to trademark, copyright and unfair competition matters. She was also responsible for searching, prosecuting, maintaining and enforcing the company's trademark and domain name portfolios worldwide and overseeing packaging and advertising compliance. She previously served as trademark counsel for Tyco Toys, Inc., which merged with Mattel, Inc. in 1997. Before joining Tyco, Ms. Kassner was associated with Panitch, Schwarze, Jacobs & Nadel, P.C. in Philadelphia and Hopgood, Calimafde, Kalil, Blaustein and Judlowe LLP in New York. Ms. Kassner participated as an instructor in the program "Introduction to Trademarks for the General Practitioner" in 1991. She was also an instructor at the American Bar Association's "Copyright Office Practice" seminar in 1995 and a panelist at the Philadelphia Business Forum's "Law and the Internet" consortium in 1998. Ms. Kassner received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980 and her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1984. Ms. Kassner is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Ms. Kassner is a member of the American Bar Association and its Intellectual Property Section, the International Trademark Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
