Michael Leonard focuses his practice on advising clients with regard to the availability and adoption of trademarks and the management and enforcement of domestic and international trademark portfolios. He possesses an extensive amount of experience representing clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and US District Courts, regularly counsels clients on internet and domain name disputes and a variety of intellectual property transactions involving trademark and copyright licenses, intellectual property due diligence and portfolio audits. He represents clients in a wide variety of fields including telecommunications, computer software and technology, entertainment and sports, the pharmaceutical, chemical, food and beverage, publishing, scientific research and apparel industries.

Prior to joining Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel, Michael was a partner at a large general practice law firm in Philadelphia. Michael has also worked in Germany with an intellectual property law firm and in the Washington, D.C. area with large general practice and intellectual property law firms.

Michael earned an LL.M. in international intellectual property law from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center at the Max Planck Institute in 2005. He graduated from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1997, and earned a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988.

Michael is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania. He is active in several intellectual property organizations including Marques, the Pharmaceutical Trade Mark Group (PTMG) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).
